Additional Interesting Facts:
There was another individual who has been left out of our podcast, whose involvement is still TBD. On the day of Theresa’s disappearance this individual was noted to have been seen with blood splatter on his clothes. The individual’s account the day varies depending on who they are talking to. It is not known if they submitted to a polygraph.
When Theresa told Angel that she was going to move back to Powellton at the conclusion of the school year, she was cut off and told, “No you aren’t”.
Another story that we were told that did not make it into the edit of the podcast: A family member of Theresa’s was vacationing out of state in the 90’s. While on vacation they met a woman who was also from West Virginia. The group got to talking and somehow it came out that they both knew of a person in the West Virginia Unsolved Murders Book. That person was Theresa Woods. After talking for a little while, this woman tells the family member of a story regarding a mutual friend (between she and Theresa) who was there the day she went missing. It is said that the pair went down to Laurel Creek to experiment with some marijuana. Theresa was there with an older male in blue work pants and a plaid shirt. The man began to try and coerce the girls into participating in some sexual activity. Theresa was very adamant in saying No, which in turn angered the older male. According to this woman’s story, the man began to beat Theresa’s head against a tree near the creek bed. Fearing for their safety, the friend fled the area. Later, worrying about Theresa’s safety, this friend went back to the creek bed but Theresa was no longer there. The mutual friend who witnessed this is apparently in a mental institution because of this encounter and it’s unclear if she ever came forward to authorities with information.
It is noted that following the ME’s examination in Charleston, Donald Woods filed a lawsuit and sued for $3 million dollars for “improper disposal of remains.”
