In the evening hours of December 1, 1991, authorities located a taxi cab, seemingly abandoned in a secluded area off of Twilight Drive in Charleston, WV. The Cab bore the name: C&H Taxi and belonged to the missing driver: Bobby Eugene Adams who had gone silent after 11:45pm the previous night (November 30, 1991). The vehicle and driver had been reported missing that same morning after Bobby had failed to return the vehicle to headquarters upon the completion of his shift at 3:00am. Police were familiar with Adams, though in what capacity, is still unclear.
But despite the recovery of the vehicle, the whereabouts of Bobby Adams were still unknown. But one thing was certain: a death had occurred in the taxi, which had a large pool of blood coagulated on the backseat floor board. Authorities worked on the assumption that Adams had fallen victim to an unknown assailant and began their investigation into the missing Cabbie.
Though information is limited, the following has been made public:
Adams was working the graveyard shift the night he disappeared (4pm- 3am).
His last known communication with dispatch was registered at 11:45pm; However his last public sighting was on Washington Street E at 3:45am (45 minutes after the completion of his shift).
Adams was last seen in the company of a Caucasian man; 40’s; with light brown or dark blonde hair; and stood around 6’ tall. It is unknown if this individual was a friend or fare of Adams.
The vehicle was discovered abandoned over a 70ft. Embankment (with a low grade) on Twilight Drive; concealed partially by branches. The vehicle had sustained multiple scratches to the body and a busted front headlight.
The amount of blood discovered in the vehicle was significant. According to statements given to the State Journal, “People don’t lose that much blood and survive.”—Sgt. Bobby Eggleton.
Bobby’s final fare has never been identified to this day in 2022.
Multiple reports have put Bobby on nearby MacCorkle Street in the early morning hours of December 1, 1991. (For any non-locals, this is all within the same vicinity that he was last seen and the vehicle was discovered).
Bobby is described as an African American Male with a medium complexion. He stood at 5’ tall and weighed 110 pounds. He has black hair (balding) and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue windbreaker, tan dress pants and black shoes. At the time of his disappearance Bobby was thirty one (31) years old. Today, he would be sixty two (62).
